At Endometriosis Surgical Specialists International (ESSI), our mission is to build a bridge from suffering to healing for our patients. It is with immense pride that we announce that our founder, Dr. Andrea Vidali, has been recognized for his life’s work in building that very bridge.
On October 18, 2025, at the historic National Italian American Foundation’s (NIAF) 50th Anniversary Gala Weekend, Dr. Vidali was presented with the Giovan Giacomo Giordano Award for Medical Excellence. The award was a highlight of the SHRO Giovan Giacomo Giordano Medical Conference, an event dedicated to the theme of “BRIDGE” (Biomedical Research Innovation Delivering Global Healthcare Excellence).
The conference celebrates the vital connections between Italian medical tradition and American innovation. For over 25 years, Dr. Vidali has perfectly embodied this theme, dedicating his career to bridging the gap between dismissed pain and restored fertility for the 190 million women worldwide who suffer from endometriosis.
His leadership and revolutionary surgical approaches were the focus of his keynote address, “Mastering Endometriosis,” where he shared the innovations that are transforming women’s lives. The significance of his work was powerfully articulated by Dr. Canio Martinelli, Director of SHRO’s Clinical and Translational Medicine Program, who stated:
“Dr. Vidali’s recognition today isn’t just an award—it’s a statement that women’s suffering matters.”
This honor acknowledges Dr. Vidali’s tireless dedication to a patient population that has been historically misunderstood and under-served. It is a testament to the core philosophy of ESSI: that every patient deserves a definitive, expert, and compassionate path to healing.
